What do we mean by church membership?
The church is a body, fellowship or a sacred assembly of believers (i.e. those who have experienced the salvation of Jesus Christ) and followers of Jesus Christ. The church was founded by Jesus Christ. (“I will build my church”. - Mt 16:18; Jesus Christ is the head of the Church - Eph 1:22-23)
Church membership refers to a formal commitment to the body of believers. The purpose of Church membership is to fulfill God-given purposes for the church and is done primarily in the following ways:
The Bible encourages us to come together and instructs us not to forsake assembling and meeting together (Heb 10:25). In this light, we come together as a church to worship, to pray, for mutual edification and to reach a world in need of Jesus Christ.
Brief records of believers who have been attending are maintained for administrative purposes, organisational accountability and as a basic legal formality.
I have been attending the services in church but have not submitted any details. What should I do?
